The New Name to Be a Slave of the Desire: Freedom

Have you heard the Unity of Opposite?

Now think about a piece of rope. Suppose that you are holding this string tightly with both hands. If one end of the rope means "laughing", let the opposite end is the crying; If one end presents "eating too much", the other end will be the not eating at all; If one end is all about sleeping a lot, the opposite end is excessive sleeplessness. The middle of this rope should also represent the moderation, the Middle way, the balance. Now let's tie the two ends of this rope, it will make a circle. This circle represents the cycle in life. The opposites are not opposite of each other as we think but they are one and all and in the same place.

When we laugh a lot, we also start crying; Eating too much brings us "a constant feeling of hunger", the feeling of being satisfied dies. When a car goes fast its whees seem to spin backwards. At the end of extreme pleasure, there is pain that comes from the ending of this pleasure.

The unity of opposites.

The Islamic worldview does not ignore the basic instincts in human. It tries to make them meet in the "middle". For this, it prohibits clergy that ignores the human instinct of sexuality.

Since human instincts and desires have no end it does not let them fulfillied completely.

Both ends of that rope are called "ifrat" (overdoing) and "tefrit" (deprivation). "Pleasure is the yeast of pleasure” which means trying to fulfill a pleasure cause another pleasure. For this reason, if the person does not control them in a reasonable limit, he will be the captive of his impulses that once enjoyed him.

This moderation, apart from that it is the building block that form how the Islamic approach to human beings, it has found its place as a philosophical approach in all areas from physics, psychology and to city planning. For example, the chaos created by the absence of traffic rules in the city is the same as the chaos created by having traffic stops in every corner. Therefore, the concept of "limited freedom" in urban planning is seen as the ideal one. The fact that we have to stand or stop in the red light is a part of this limited freedom. The absence of red light makes us say that "the worst rule is better than without having any rules at all." It presents anarchy and uninhabitable reality.

In Islamic view, "red lights" are the "harams" that are controlling pleasures within a reasonable limit. It does not allow neither the clergy nor the daily relationships-which define the other part of the rope. The most intimate sharing of couples are conditioned to "being able to take responsibility for being a family". In this context, "unlimited freedom", which is so popular in these years and always used in relation to sexual orientation but it -not mentioning its being desecrate- corresponds to being "a slave of lust". This is a slavery empire that is wide enough to encourage small children to dance in their "drag queen" costumes with their immodest figures in nightclubs.

The ideology, which refuses to being a family, tries to see and force people to see the daily affairs as "freedom", or while saying the early age marriage is a crime and should be punished, it defines the situation of a transgendered the 10-year-old child as "the gender revolution"; it enslaves children by sexually abusing them, controlling their mental development and taking away their childhood and calling it "freedom". (See: Cover of National Geographic Magazine, January 2017)

Today's psychology science authorities, which once regarded this sexual perversion as "disorder" according to the DSM-1 criteria, but now define it as "normal" after many pressures in DSM-5, and they are gone crazy enough to accept that a 10-year-old children- you cannot even send them alone to the market- may consider to change his or her gender.

And let me tell you another thing, from the last update, the old version of "L, G, B, T, I," has recently got another letter "Q" that represents the concept of "the queer & genderless" and which means: "there is No need for categorization as the women, the men, the incest, and people must forget about all of the reasonable limits, and go after their hormones as they wish", and this set of mind sees "the dignity of being human" as an "inessential detail."

Another principle of Islam related to pleasures is that it is always accompanied by a "benefit". For example, eating is not only a pleasure but also our basic drive that keeps our body alive. Allah, the Exalted and the Almighty, restricted this in the Quran. but it is free to do at the same time. So, the pleasure we get from eating shouldn't be in a way that harms our body. There must be a benefit for our body. Cigarettes and drugs are the best examples to explain this. The month of Ramadan, which we are in, prevents the believers from being a slave of eating and the food itself, by making the eating free for in 11 months and restricting it for in 1 month.

On the other hand, the dealing with sexual urges is just for the becoming "families" with each other and and it is to continue their generation. In Isra 32, for this reason "adultery" is known to be "a bad way” because there is a sexual relationship but there is no place for being a family. On the other hand, any kind of operation, preventive treatment by which reproduction becomes impossible in female or male organs, and any kind of sexual intercourse that prevents reproduction; they are all forbidden/ haram.

Homosexuality -if we ignore the current wave that created by some people whose profession is all about the biological education but who acts like an authority of or an expert at theology, making statement about this issue and fancying themselves as competent in every field- is forbidden with clear statements in the Qur'an. In addition to explaining it in the story of Lut and his people in the 80 verses long, it is completely against to the approach of the Qur'an which deals with the human impulses.

Therefore, eating without having any limit is to be the slave of the stomach, unlimited sexuality is to be the slave of lust. All the principles of Islam serve to keep the human beings in moderation. Limitlessness is an anarchism that destroys all the sacred. You cannot live in a city without any limits or boundaries, it causes caos. The red lights of the Creator not only keep us alive; but also it brings us to the level of living with dignity of being human When you take away all the dignity, honor, and pride of human, the only thing remains; " social animal".

Desert winds in the desert constantly change the location of the hillocks. So, you cannot find your way by looking at the hills. In this case Your compass will be sky elements such as the moon and stars.

Modern life may be fighting all our value judgments. Anything that is tried to be replaced by so-called "value" can be a sacrilege project. And maybe the dignified ways of living that Islam is trying to form are tried to be made invisible with these modern storms. Our eyes are just looking at the heaven and the words from the heaven. Our route and compass are also clear. Our light is not from hormones that are also in the animal body; but from the Creator of hormones and light itself. The "the straight path" in Fatiha, the pray which we read 40 times a day, protects us from going blindly to death due to a foundationless freedom in this desert. "Moderation" borders and limits take us away from this desert, moreover, it ensures that our lives will be with honor and dignity which is fit our purpose of creation. Hence "the death is inevitable”, the "death of the heart" in a living body -which is caused by being slave of the pleasure and desire- will be avoided too. When a person becomes a slave to his pleasures, his heart also dies eventually.
